Zoe Saldana is the star of Guardians of the Galaxy

Zoe Yadira Saldaña Nazario, better known as Zoe Saldana, is an American actress, known for her roles in Avatar, Star Trek, Into Darkness – Star Trek, Star Trek Beyond and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Born in New Jersey, she is the daughter of a Dominican, Aridio Saldaña, and a Puerto Rican, Azaliah Nazario. She grew up in New York’s Queens and speaks both Spanish and English. At the age of nine years loses her father in a car accident as well, with her mother and sisters, she moved to the Dominican Republic. She studied ballet in a prestigious school but returns to the US in the second year of high school and began studying acting; to keep working as a cashier at Burger King.

Her debut came in 1999 in an episode of Law & Order; thanks to her experience as a dancer gets easily the part in her first film, Center Stage, focused on the world of dance. Later she starred alongside Britney Spears in Crossroads and gets a small role in The Pirates of the Caribbean. In 2002 she starred in Drumline where she plays a lover of dancing girl in the fictional Atlanta A & T University, and where becomes the girlfriend of the protagonist Nick Cannon. In 2004 plays the agent Torres in The Terminal and in 2005 she starred opposite Ashton Kutcher in the comedy Guess Who.

After taking part in the film Vantage Point, she played Uhura in Star Trek by J. J. Abrams. In 2009 released the blockbuster James Cameron’s Avatar, where the actress plays the role of Neytiri, princess of the Na’vi. In 2011 plays the protagonist of the film Colombiana by Olivier Megaton. In 2010 she was chosen by Calvin Klein Underwear as a testimonial of the campaign fall / winter 2010/2011. In 2013 is part of the cast of Out of the Furnace, directed by Scott Cooper. In April 2014 she was chosen as the face of L’Oréal.

Saldana will also reprise her role of Neytiri in Avatar 2 in 2017. She will also reprise her role as Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, to be released in May 2017. She will co-star in Ben Affleck‘s Live by Night, scheduled for release in January 2017, and in these days she is again the Lieutenant Uhura in Star Trek Beyond.
