Uma Thurman, a godlike creature for Mr. Quentin Tarantino

As everyone knows, Uma Thurman is particularly known for her performance as Mia Wallace in Quentin Tarantino‘s cult movie Pulp Fiction, which is nominated for an Academy Award in 1995 for Best Supporting Actress, followed by nominations for a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award. She has always worked with Tarantino in 2003 in Kill Bill Vol. 1 and in 2004 in Kill Bill Vol. 2, films that have earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress, and two Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Drama. She won the award for best actress in a mini-series or TV movie in 2003 for Hysterical Blindness.

Daughter of a psychotherapist and former German model Nena von Schlebrügge (of noble origin, having the title of Baroness) and Robert Thurman, one of the leading world experts in Buddhism, author and translator of numerous books on Tibetan Buddhism, Thurman grew up with her three brothers, Dechen, Ganden and Mipam. Her middle name, Karuna, means “compassion”, “mercy” in Mahayana Buddhism. A distant cousin, also, is the famous Swedish football player Max von Schlebrügge. During her years in middle school, Uma is often ostracized by peers, who make fun of for her maverick character and her imagination is often not appreciated. She attended the Professional Children’s School in New York City, but at age 15, after participating in a school play in which she played a ghost, she decided to pursue a career as an actress and leaves the classroom.

Her debut came in 1987 in the film, later proved a flop, Laura. The breakthrough came a year later with the film Johnny Be Good and Dangerous Liaisons by Stephen Frears, shot along with John Malkovich, Glenn Close and Michelle Pfeiffer and a young Keanu Reeves. The consecration takes place with The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, directed by Terry Gilliam, the film in which she plays Venus. Very famous is the scene of her exit from the shell.

Supports gay rights and is in favor of same-sex marriage, in fact in 2011, spokesman for the Human Rights Campaign. Thurman was married to Gary Oldman 1990-1992. In 1998 married Ethan Hawke, by whom she has two children: Maya Ray (8 July 1998) and Levon Roan (15 January 2002). The couple divorced in 2005. From 2007 to 2009 and then from 2011 to 2014 she has been linked to the French financier Arpad Busson, with whom she has a daughter, Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence (nicknamed Luna), born July 5, 2012. Much has been made of a possible relationship with Quentin Tarantino himself, but there have never been concrete confirmations.
