Stana Katic, who was born in Hamilton on April 26, 1978, is a Canadian actress, from Serbian-Croatian origins. She is best known for her role as detective Kate Beckett in the television series Castle.
She born in Ontario from father Serbia and Croatian mother, both emigrated from the former Yugoslavia. After moving with her family – has four brothers and a sister – in Aurora, Illinois, Stana spent the next years back and forth between Canada and the United States. After graduating from the West Aurora High School in 1996, Stana Katic attended the University of Toronto and then studied acting at the Chicago’s Goodman School of Drama, in the years 2000-2002, and at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.
In addition to English, she is fluent Serbian-Croatian, Slovenian, French, and Italian. On april 26, 2015, on her birthday, she got married in a private ceremony with boyfriend Kris Brkljač.
Stana in the television sector has played the roles of Hana Gitelman in Heroes, Collette Stenger in the fifth season of 24, and Simone Renoir in the TV movie The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice, while in the cinema has played Jenny in the movie Feast of Love with Morgan Freeman, Morgenstern in Frank Miller’s The Spirit and Corrine Veneau in Quantum of Solace.
In August 2008 she was hired by ABC for the role of the detective Kate Beckett in the television series Castle, co-starred with Nathan Fillion. Her role in the television series won a reputation globally and allows her to triumph two People’s Choice Awards between 2014 and 2015. Also in 2008, Katic opens her own production company, Sine Fear Production. In 2011, double the character of Talia al Ghul in the videogame Batman: Arkham City.
