Severina Kojić, born Vučković, is one of the most famous Croatian pop singer. She was born on April 21, 1972 in Split. Severina came from a working-class family, for which she did not believe she would become known, but her talent had come to the fore. She was interested in music, dance, acting and piano since her early childhood.
She was a member of KUD Mozaik and Mrs. Lepa Smoje assigned her role to Carmela in the “Frane Strapaalo” musical. Later she started singing in the Third Shift group and lower her first prize in competitions, one of which was from the Student Summer where she was named the best singer.
She represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, held in Athens, Greece, with the song Moja Štikla, finishing 12th. She won the award “Zlatna ptica” for the best selling artist of the decade in Croatia. In 2015, she was the most googled person in Croatia and Slovenia.
Known as National Seve as well as a singer she is also a model, a conductor, an actress.
Although she is not widely known internationally, as well as in Croatia, is very famous in all the countries of the former Yugoslavia. Severina is definitely the singer who has achieved the greatest success in the history of Croatian pop music.
During her career, Vučković changed her musical style many times. Her songs contain various musical genres: rock, pop, dance, traditional Dalmatian music, classical rhythms such as waltz and tango, Spanish and gypsy music, folk music.
