Priyanka Chopra is a model, actress and Indian singer, winner of the Miss World 2000 beauty contest is the first actress to have won five Filmfare Awards in five categories: Best Female Debut, Best Villain, Best Actress in a leading role, Best Choise Actress and Best Actress in Supporting role.
Priyanka was born in 1982 by Ashok and Madhu Chopra, both doctors in India. She has a brother, Siddharth, seven years younger. In June 2013 she lost her father, who was very close and to which she devoted a tattoo.
She has gained the international popularity by winning the title of Miss World 2000. Se had previously also been elected Miss India in the World. Curiously the same year the compatriots Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza Handrich won titles respectively the tiles of Miss Universe and Miss Asia Pacific, creating a historic treble for India.
Her film debut was in 2002 with Thamizhan. The following year, made her debut in Bollywood with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, followed by the successful film Andaaz, for which she won the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award.
In 2004, she became the second woman to win the Filmfare Best Villain Award, which she received for her role in Aitraaz. Priyanka Chopra later also obtained other commercial success with films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Krrish (2006) and Don – The Chase Begins Again.
She also won the Filmfare Best Actress Award and a National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Fashion (2008), an award that has made her one of the leading contemporary actresses in Bollywood. She has also collaborations with will.i.am and Pitbull.
In 2015 is the star of the American TV series Quantico, produced by ABC.
