Miranda Cosgrove was born in Los Angeles, California. She has English, Irish and French origins. At the age of three she was discovered by an agent while singing and dancing in a restaurant. After choosing to pursue an actress career she appeared in some spots for the McDonald’s chain. At the age of 7 she began to make plays for theater and television roles.
Miranda’s first television appearance was in 2001, as the 5-year-old dubber of Lana Lang in the first episode of Smallville. Miranda then made her first appearance in film with the 2003 School of Rock film. In the film, she plays Hathaway Summer, a young ambitious girl who becomes the manager of the rock band of the class. School of Rock has been a success gaining over $ 130 million worldwide, and Miranda’s acting has been very much appreciated by Newsweek’s David Ansen. Thanks to this film she has learned to use the electric guitar.
Miranda soon got her first major role in the Nickelodeon Drake & Josh television series, alongside Drake Bell and Josh Peck. In the series, she interpreted Megan Parker, the youngest sister of the two main characters. The show debuted in January 2004.
Miranda Cosgrove is well-known for participating in various shows at Zoey 101, The Amanda Show, Kenan & Kel, and All That. She has been a recurring role in five episodes of Grounded for Life, depicting Jessica’s role. In 2005 she played Munch in the film Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie. Miranda was also guest star in two episodes of the Lilo & Stitch series aired on Disney Channel. Cosgrove was also rewarded for her second important role in the movie Yours, My and Ours, in which she played Joni’s character. The movie earned $ 17,461,108 in the United States.
She played Paige Howord‘s role in Zoey 101, but her real success began with the iCarly sit-com, in which Carly Shay, an American girl who lives with her brother, was the protagonist.
Miranda’s debut as a singer was with iCarly’s “Leave It All to Me,” in collaboration with Drake Bell. It was released as a single in December 2007 through digital distribution and finally reached number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album debuted at number one of the Billboard Album Kid Graphic.
On February 3, 2009, Miranda Cosgrov released her first solo record: “Extended Play About You Now“.
In 2009 she collaborated with the songwriters The Matrix, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Leah Haywood, and Daniel James. Miranda dubbed Margo in Despicable Me, released in July 2010. In January 2011 she revealed that her new EP would be entitled High Maintenance. The first song, entitled “Crazy Dance“, was written by Max Martin, Shellback, and Avril Lavigne and produced by Martin and Shellback. On January 24, 2011, she began his tour of Crazy Dancing Tour in North America. Miranda continued the summer tour to promote her second single, High Maintenance. On July 15, 2011 the tour continued with a new name, Crazy Dancing Summer Tour in the United States and Canada.
Miranda dubbed Margo also in Despicable Me 2 and Despicable Me 3 in 2013 and 2017. In 2015 she stars in the horror movie The Intruders with Austin Butler playing the role of Rose.
