Claire Rhiannon Holt was born in Brisbane, 11 June 1988. She is an Australian actress, mainly known for Emma Gilbert‘s role in H2O and Rebekah Mikaelson‘s role in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

Claire Holt was born and raised in a family of two sisters and a brother as well. She initially studied to become a doctor, but begins to appear in some advertisements to earn some savings and, having briefly worked as a model, decides to become an actress. Subsequently, she studies acting in a private school.

She practiced water polo at an agonistic level. She graduated in 2005 to Toowong’s Stuartholme High School and is Taekwondo Black Belt.

In July 2015 announces the engagement with producer Matt Kaplan. On April 28, 2016, they marry in an intimate and private ceremony. On April 27, 2017, Matt Kaplan asked for the dissolution of marriage.

Gets her first role as Emma Gilbert in H2O, from 2006 to 2009. In 2010, she is engaged in filming the movie film Messengers 2: The Scarecrow of Martin Barnewitz, followed by The Messengers, in which she plays the protagonist. In the summer of 2010 she plays in the Mean Girls 2 movie, a sequel to Mean Girls, while in 2011 she plays the recurring role of Samara Cook in Pretty Little Liars. During casting for the television series The Secret Circle, she is called to appear as vampire Rebekah Mikaelson, sister of Klaus, in The Vampire Diaries, role that also covers in the first spin-off season of the series titled The Originals.

She will return to the big screen with Steve Taylor’s Blue Like Jazz movie, based on Donald Miller’s novel. In July 2014, she joined the Aquarius television series as the policeman Charmain Tully.
