Anne Hathaway is well-known for starring roles in The Devil Wears Prada, Brokeback Mountain, Love & Other Drugs, The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar and Rachel Getting Married for which she received her first nomination Awards Academy Award for best actress.
During the ceremony of the Academy Awards 2013 won the statuette for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Fantine in Les Misérables. For the same film won a Golden Globe, a BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Born in the New York borough of Brooklyn and raised in Millburn (New Jersey) from the age of six years, is the daughter of Gerald Hathaway, a lawyer, and Kate McCauley, also her an actress (Kate appears with her daughter in the film The Princess Diaries). Her mother was precisely the model that inspired the young Hathaway to follow in her footsteps. Anne Hathaway has two brothers, Michael and Tom. Her maternal grandfather, Joe McCauley, was one of the best known radio personalities in Philadelphia.
With catholic education, at 11 years she had cherished the dream to dedicate herself as a nun, but 15 years abandons Catholicism. Aware of homosexuality of her brother Michael, decided that they no longer follow Catholicism. Since then she has always called herself “Christian generic”, not recognizing herself in any of the existing Christian denominations.
Hathaway has had a relationship from 2004 to 2008 with the Italian businessman Raffaello Follieri, concluded during some investigations and other legal entanglements. September 29, 2012 married the actor Adam Shulman in Big Sur, California, after a relationship of four years. In November 2015, the couple announced to be expecting their first child.
