As first approaches to the world of entertainment Zooey Deschanel partecipated in music videos: in fact in 1999 she made her debut in Mumford film. In 2000 plays the rebellious sister of Patrick Fugit in Almost Famous by Cameron Crowe, then appears alongside Katie Holmes in Abandon, Big Trouble, and The New Guy where she also noted for her singing ability.
Later, plays Tricia McMillan in the film The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and with Sarah Jessica Parker in the romantic comedy Failure to Launch. In 2006, she took part in four episodes of the TV series Weeds and the movie Bridge to Terabithia.
In 2007 she starred in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, later she co-starred opposite Mark Wahlberg in The Happening by M. Night Shyamalan. In December 2008 she participated in the successful film Yes Man alongside Jim Carrey.
In 2009 she took part with her friend Joseph Gordon-Levitt to romantic comedy (500) Days of Summer that despite a slow start, scoops the box office thanks to a strong word of mouth. That same year she starred in an episode of the TV series Bones, whose sister Emily is the protagonist.
Since 2011 she is the star of the award-winning television series New Girl. Zooey continues in 2015 to receive awards and nominations of any kind, the last one received in 2014 for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy, again for New Girl.
