Michelle Trachtenberg is known for portraying Nona F. Mecklenberg in The Adventures of Pete & Pete (1994–96), Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2000–03), Celeste in Six Feet Under (2004), and Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl (2008–12). She has also appeared in films such as Harriet the Spy (1996), Inspector Gadget (1999), EuroTrip (2004), Ice Princess (2005), Black Christmas (2006), 17 Again (2009), Cop Out (2010), and Killing Kennedy (2013).
Michelle Trachtenberg’s career began career at the age of three years, as a model for commercials of the popular Kids ‘R’ Us toy store. She also works for other major companies, such as Panasonic, Fuji, Kraft, Kleenex and Hoover. The first television appearance in advertising of Wisk detergent. The first credited role was in the Nickelodeon television series The Adventures of Pete & Pete, where she plays Nona F. Mecklenberg. In the same period, she starred in the role of Lily Montgomery in the soap opera All My Children. 1996 is also the year of the film debut in the movie Harriet the Spy, the first adaptation of the book Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh, in which she plays the heroine Harriet.
In 1997, in addition to moving to Los Angeles, plays in the TV series Meego, which makes winning a Young Artist Award, and in 1999 joined the cast of the film Inspector Gadget in the role of Penny. In 2000 she is in the film Can’t Be Heaven and get the role of Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which she held until 2003, the year in which the series ends. She also presents the series of Discovery Kids Truth or Scare. In 2004 she took part in EuroTrip film, directed by Jeff Schaffer, alongside actors Scott Mechlowicz, Jacob Pitts and Travis Wester. She also has a role in the television series Six Feet Under in the role of pop star Celeste. In March 2005 she obtained the starring role in the Disney movie Ice Princess with Kim Cattrall, Joan Cusack and Hayden Panettiere.
In 2006, she appears as a guest star on the television series House, M.D. and Law & Order, and recites in the film Black Christmas. She also makes a few appearances in music videos This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race of Fall Out Boy, Tired of Being Sorry of Ringside, and Echo of Trapt. In 2007 she received the role of the female lead in The Hill and plays Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, The CW television series, returning in subsequent seasons. In 2009 she joined the cast of the television series of NBC Mercy, which is not, however, be renewed for a second season. Takes part also in the film 17 Again with Zac Efron and in 2010 a small role in the comedy Cop out.
In 2011, she appears as a guest star in three episodes of the series Love Bites, in the role of Jodie, and in June is announced her participation as a guest star in the seventh season of Weeds. Join the cast of the film Sexy Evil Genius and The Scribbler, both released in the theaters in 2013.
