Lola Astanova is a very particular pianist because she is tremendously beautiful.
She was born 1985 in Tashkent, former USSR, but today she resides in United States. She is noted for her interpretations of compositions by Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff, as well as piano transcriptions.
At the age of six, Lola began taking music lessons with Professor Tamara Popovich at the elite music school V. Uspensky Specialized School of Music for Gifted Children. She often visited Moscow to get piano lessons with Professor Lew Naumow from the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory. Lew Naumov said, “Lola Astanova has a rare and truly ingenious talent, and Chopin, played by Lola, is simply unique.”
Lola Astanova began to perform at the age of eight. She has appeared in Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Russia, both with solo programs and with orchestras.
In 1996 she was a laureate of the International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Moscow.
In 1998 she was featured in the UNESCO documentary “Prodigies of the 20th Century“.
In 2003 she emigrated to the USA.
In 2004 she made her debut at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.
In 2005 she received her Master’s Degree (summa cum laude) at Rice University.
In September 2007, Lola Astanova released her first US album entitled DEBUT, which was exclusively marketed via iTunes.
In October 2007, Lola Astanova became a star of the “Classical Superstars Fantasy Concert” with Waleri Gergiev and the Kirov Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater, and she received an Emmy for Regis Philbin‘s hosted Most Winning TV Personality. The concert was enclosed in the edition of the centenary of the Neiman Marcus Christmas book and yielded a sum of 1.6 million USD.
In August 2008, the National Museum commemorated September 11 Lola Astanova’s historical execution on the famous Steinway concert grand piano by Vladimir Horowitz on the occasion of the charity event “Notes of Hope“, presented by the mayor Michael Bloomberg. The event also featured screenings by comedian and actor Denis Leary and rock singer John Mellencamp.
In 2014 Astanova performed at the New York Ball honoring editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia Franca Sozzani, with Donald Trump, Valentino Garavani, Baz Luhrmann, Steven Klein, Zac Posen, Coco Rocha, and Peter Dundas attending the event and Kris Jenner introducing Astanova on stage.
Astanova has been featured in numerous style and lifestyle publications, including Vogue, People, ¡Hola!, Haute Living and Quest.
Astanova has written a number of virtuoso piano transcriptions on the theme of popular melodies including holiday classic “Jingle Bells” and Rihanna‘s “Don’t Stop the Music”.
