Jennifer Hudson was born on September 12, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois. She is the youngest and third daughter of Samuel Simpson and Darnell Donnerson. Jennifer Hudson is an actress, spokesperson, and American Singer. She is a Grammy, Golden Globe and an Oscar-winning singer and actress famous for roles in Dreamgirls and Sex and the City. In 2004, Jennifer Hudson rose to fame and got herself a spot on FOX’s American Idol, as a finalist on the third season, coming in seventh place which helps her to build a loyal fan base and gain much exposure.
Jennifer Hudson studied at Dunbar Vocational Career Academy in 1999. In the same year, she began dating James Payton, when she was 18. They separated in late 2007. In September 2008, Jennifer Hudson got engaged with a Harvard Law graduate and a professional wrestler in the WWE named David Otunga and she has her first child (named David Daniel Otunga, Jr) in August 2009.
In 2006 during the filming of Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson became a close friend with singer Beyoncé Knowles. The latter was right there at the 2007 Academy Awards Ceremony where Hudson won the Oscar for the best supporting actress. Jennifer Hudson has also been pronounced as a friend of former America President, Barack Obama. In May 2009 during his first tenure, he summoned her to appear with him at a fundraiser in Beverly Hills.
In October 2008, Jennifer’s mother, brother, and nephew were murdered by her alienated brother-in-law, with Jennifer taking time away from the spotlight to mourn. Later on, she went on to star in more screen projects, among which are the ‘The TV musical Smash’ and ‘The Secret Life of Bees.’
In 2009, The Julian D. King Gift Foundation was founded by Jennifer Hudson and her sister Julia Hudson, as to better improve children’s welfare, health, and education. The Foundation subsists to provide support for children of all backgrounds so that they will become happy, productive, confident and self-dependent adults.
