Jenna Lee Dewan Tatum is the daughter of Daryll Dewan (Lebanese / Polish) and Nancy Lee Bursch Smith, who divorced when Jenna was still a child. Her mother remarried to Claude Brooks Smith. Jenna attends the University of Southern California and is a member of Pi Beta Phi. In 1999 Jenna graduated from Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas. Before becoming an actress, Jenna is active as a dancer and model, working with famous artists such as Justin Timberlake, ‘N Sync, Sean Combs, Ricky Martin, Billy Crawford, and Janet Jackson, both in live performance and in music videos.
She gets her first leading actress in 2005 in the horror movie Tamara. Later, Jenna has appeared in other films such as Waterborne (2005), Take the Lead, Step Up, and The Grudge 2 (all made in 2006). She completed Love Lies Bleeding with Christian Slater in New Mexico, which was released in theaters in 2008.

In 2012 she is chosen in the cast of the second season of the popular television series American Horror Story: Asylum by Ryan Murphy. From 2015 she took part in the television series Supergirl, playing the role of Lucy Lane.
