Frankie Shaw grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts. Her mother is from South Boston and raised her Jewish.
She graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University with a degree in English literature.
She first gained recognition in the completely improvised Sundance film, The Freebie and then as the oddball drunken cheerleader in the sitcom Blue Mountain State, a Spike TV series where she plays Mary Jo Cacciatore.
She was nominated as Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy at the 2018 Golden Globes for SMILF TV series.
SMILF is about Bridgette Bird, a young single mother struggling to balance her old life of freedom with her new life as mom. This all comes to a head when Bridgette invites an old acquaintance over to her studio apartment while her son takes a nap.
Frankie Shaw is also Director and Writer of SMILF.
She is married with Zach Strauss and she has a son, Isaac Love Shaw, with her ex-boyfriend, the actor Mark Webber.
She grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Shaw is also known for her recurring role as Shayla Nico in the first season of the USA Network television series Mr. Robot.
