Emilia Clarke is known for her performance as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, a role for which she received three Emmy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
She was born in London in 1986 and grew up in Berkshire with her parents and younger brother. She began acting at the age of eleven, after the mother leads her to see a performance of Show Boat, a musical for the realization of which her father worked as sound engineer.
From 2007 to 2009 starred in numerous shows at the Drama Centre: Wild Honey, Pygmalion, The Changeling, Emilia Galotti, Awake and Sing, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Flea in Her Ear, The Hot I Baltimore, The Government Inspector and Hamlet. In 2009, also starred in Sense, for the Company Of Angels. Also in 2009, she starred in an episode of the television series Doctors and in the television movie Triassic Attack; in the same year she starred in a TV advertising campaign for the organization without profit Samaritans, titled Lisa’s Story.
In the same year she received a leading role in the television series Game of Thrones, where she plays the princess exiled Daenerys Targaryen; in this series replaces the actress who had starred in the episode original pilot, Tamzin Merchant. For the role of Daenerys Emilia Clarke won an Emmy Award for “Best Supporting Actress in a Drama TV series” and won the Scream Awards 2011 as Breakout Performance – Female.
From 2013 is starring on Broadway in the role of Holly Golightly, the musical adapted from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, is the protagonist of The Garden of Last Days by James Franco and alongside Jude Law she is in Dom Hemingway on BBC. Emilia Clarke gave the face to Sarah Connor in the last film in the Terminator series. In September 2014, the writer Jojo Moyes, author of the novel Me Before You, communicated with a tweet that the actress would have starred as Lou Clark, the female protagonist of the novel, in the homonymous film adaptation. The magazine Esquire named her the sexiest woman in the world in 2015.
