Elisabeth Shue, from Karate Kid to Back to the Future

Elisabeth Shue is an American actress particularly well known for starring in Back to the Future and to have received an Oscar nomination for the Best Actress for Leaving Las Vegas.

Daughter of a wealthy family, her mother, Ellen Wells, was a British-born American banker and her father, James Shue, is an American lawyer with remote German origins. When parents divorce she was still a child. Began her higher studies and, in the meantime, she appears in some commercials.

The film debut came in 1984 with the participation to the first film in the Karate Kid saga, in which she plays the girlfriend of Ralph Macchio.

Since then she is the protagonist in hit films such as Cocktail, Back to the Future – Part II and Back to the Future – Part III, Leaving Las Vegas (where she co-starred with Nicholas Cage) and thanks to the latter she received the Independent Spirit Award for best actress.

In addition participated as co-star in the movie The Saint, starring Val Kilmer, states in the thriller Hollow Man opposite Kevin Bacon and in 2012 played the horror film House at the End of the Street with Jennifer Lawrence.

Since 2012 she is part of the main cast of the television series CSI – Crime Scene Investigation. She made her debut in the fourteenth episode of the twelfth season.

She is the wife of the director and producer Davis Guggenheim, with whom she has three children: William Miles (born 11 November 1997), Stella Street (born 19 March 2001) and Agnes Charles Guggenheim (born 18 June 2006). Her brother, Andrew Shue, is an actor.
