As a child Christina Applegate made her debut on the soap opera Days of our lives, in later years she participated in several television productions, including the sitcom Married With Children, where she played for ten years as Kelly Bundy, a role with which buys some notoriety.
The first major film role came with Don’t Tell Mom the BabySitter’s Dead, followed by roles in Mars Attacks! by Tim Burton, The Big Hit starring Mark Wahlberg, The Sweetest Thing and View from the Top.
In 2007 she starred in the TV series Samantha Who?, which tells the story of Samantha that after being in a coma eight days, when she wakes up she does not remember anything and will have to start all over again.
Also she was among the creators of the group Pussycat Dolls with her friend, dancer and choreographer Robin Antin and made part as a dancer from the beginning in 1993 until 2000.
August 3, 2008, People reported that the Applegate had been diagnosed with breast cancer. This was confirmed by her representative, who said in a statement: “To Mrs. Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection, cancer is not life threatening. The Applegate is undergoing treatment her doctors and a full recovery is expected”. On 19 August 2008, it was announced that the cancer (for only one breast) was removed after a double mastectomy and for Applegate was expected to reconstructive surgery for the next eight months. Applegate has an inherited genetic defect, which often triggers breast cancer. Her mother, Nancy Priddy, is also survived an operation for breast cancer.
In 2003 she was spokesperson for the Lee National Denim Day, which raises millions of dollars for education and research of breast cancer. Applegate has subsequently appeared in a television special entitled Stand Up to Cancer designed to raise funds for research on cancer. The special was aired on television networks CBS, NBC, ABC September 5, 2009. Applegate also founded Right Action for Women, a foundation dedicated to screening for breast cancer focused on the type of MRI scan which saved her life. The foundation is currently in the early stages of fundraising.
Chrsitina dated briefly Brad Pitt in 1989 when she was just two seasons deep into Married With Children’s 11 seasons. She was 18 when she took him to the 1989 MTV Movie Awards.
