Ayu Rosmalina, born in Depok, West Java, June 20, 1992 is a dangdut singer known by the stage name Ayu Ting Ting. She became famous when singing the main song titled Geol Ajep Ajep and Alamat Palsu (“Fake Address”). Alamat Palsu song managed to be very successful song, and managed to become the best-selling song in 2011. Her stage name, Ting Ting, is related to virginity.
She began modelling at the age of 5, and was introduced to dangdut around that time. Ayu Ting Ting began her music career as a wedding singer at the age of 14, earning Rp. 250,000 (US$28) per performance. In 2007 she recorded a solo album, Dilanjut Aja (Just Continue), which included “Alamat Palsu”, a song written by a man from Tasikmalaya, and “Ting Ting”, which is the title used as a euphemism for ‘virgin’, including lyrics such as “saya masih ting-ting / dan terjamin ting-ting” (“I’m still ting-ting / and guaranteed to be ting-ting”).
In 2011, four years after its release, “Alamat Palsu” became popular, with covers by comedian Sule and singer Olga Syahputra. After that, helped in part by Syahputra, Ting Ting can earn Rp. 30 million for six songs. Ting Ting has stated that she attempts to emphasize her voice when singing and not sell her body, something she considers common in dangdut culture. She instead attempts to be herself, although with some Korean fashion influence. Ting Ting married with Henry Baskoro Hendarso (née Enji) on 4 July 2013 and divorced from him following year.
