Annette Bening‘s professional career of Bening begins in 1988 in the comedy The Great Outdoors, getting acclaim for her role in the drama The Grifters (1990), for which she received a nomination for the Oscar for best Supporting actress, in the biopic Bugsy (1991) and in the romantic comedy The American President (1996).
She has received praise for her performance in the award-winning film American Beauty (1999), for which she won the BAFTA to the best actress and the SAG Award for best film actress. This is the story of three women who explore love and freedom in Southern California during the late 1970s. In a Santa Barbara at a time of great change, the single mother Dorothea Fields seeks to grow in the best way the teenage son Jamie, educating love and freedom. The woman asks the help of two young women, the artist Abbie and the nearby rebel Julie.
The film was premiered at the New York Film Festival in October 2016. It was subsequently presented at the Mill Valley Film Festival and AFI Fest. Will be released in US theaters in limited form on 25 December 2016.
