Amanda Peet was born in New York in a very religious family: her father, Charles Peet, is a Quaker lawyer while Penny mother is a Jewish social worker. Amanda studied at the seminary with actor Liev Schreiber and later she joined the faculty of history at Columbia University. At the end of her four-year period of study she takes part in the revival of Clifford Odets’s comedy Awake and Sing.
She appeared for the first time on television advertising of candies Skittles and then took the role of “guest star” in the detective drama series Law & Order. The big screen debut came with the comedy Animal Room (1995). Subsequently Peet studied acting and took part in numerous independent films, which were not very followed.
The consecration took place in 1999, when she had the lead role in the television series Jack & Jill (who held engaged for two years). In the same year she was in the cast of the film Simply Irresistible with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Body Shots, but she began to be very popular after The Whole Nine Yards (2000). In February 2006 she took part in the theatrical show Barefoot in the Park, directed by Neil Simon. Between 2006 and 2007 participates in the television series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, created by Aaron Sorkin, aired by NBC in late 2006.
September 30, 2006 is married to producer and screenwriter David Benioff, from which 20 February 2007 had a daughter, Frances Pen. April 19, 2010, Peet has given birth in New York to a second little girl named Molly June. December 6, 2014, in Los Angeles, was born the couple’s third son, Henry Peet Friedman.
